Welcome to Seoul.

[upbeat music continues]

In Korea, the communities just really come together

in a way that feels like you're part of something.

There's so many hidden gems here.

There's so many things to experience.

Fashion is definitely big here, so even though it's cold

people like to wear it like a crazy outfit.

My name is Goom, I'm South Korean designer based

in both London and Korea.

[upbeat music]

[Goom speaking in Korean]

So one of my favorite thing about Seoul in fashion industry

is this fabric market.

I often go there to find the swatches

or the techniques we want to use

for textile development for the collection.

In London, you can't really find a place

where all the like hundreds of shops in the one building.

In Seoul there is one.

[Goom speaking in Korean]

This is my pattern cutter who's working with me.

He came to Korea for this season.

[upbeat music]

So I just picked up the sort of pass for our new collection.

I've lent out my pieces to quite a few K-Pop artists

to wear on stage in the past.

And actually Holland, the K-Pop Star,

is gonna come to our studio, - I'm excited.

and I'm gonna show him around and he will try some bits.

[Goom speaking in Korean]

I just finished shopping, I need some sugar.

This is Korean traditional snack.

[upbeat music]

[Holland speaking in Korean] [Goom speaking in Korean]

like unique styles of their own, which is great I think.

[Holland speaking in Korean]

This area is a very traditional quarter.

We have the Changdeokgung Palace right next to us,

and this area used to be the guards, palace guards,

living quarter that we have built

this traditional hanok in.

Korean food has a strong flavor.

It used to be a lot of vegetables.

Korea wasn't the richest country.

Meat was mostly for the royals.

Vegans would actually enjoy Korean food

other than when you add some fermented fish sauce in it.

Whoa.

[Holland speaking in Korean]

[Holland speaking in Korean]

Yeah.

Bui, bui, bui.

[Holland speaking in Korean] [Minzi speaking in Korean]

Nightlife here is very special.

From Gabber to Techno, you can find a space.

There's just something for everyone

and it's available 24 hours.

I feel like underground scenes

are really starting to gain traction.

It's just really incredible.

I'm shocked and also clubbing all the time.

What I like most about Seoul is all the gay bars

and LGBTQ spaces in and around Itaewon,

especially since South Korea

is lacking anti-discrimination laws.

So the spaces that make people feel safe and liberated

are very important.
