Sex Toys So Discreet You Can Take Them (Almost) Anywhere
If you’ve ever traveled with a sex toy, you may have endured the slightly awkward experience of TSA rifling through your bags—made even worse if your toy starts vibrating. But the scene isn’t uncommon for TSA: 80 percent of adult American women and 45 percent of adult men now own at least one sex toy.
Still, the world isn’t exactly stigma-free regarding pleasure products, and it’s a reasonable request not to want attention drawn to your favorite toys. Taylor Sparks is an erotic educator and founder of Organic Loven, the largest BIPOC-owned online intimacy shop. She recommends taking out removable batteries or running down rechargeable batteries before you travel (remember to bring a charger, though).
“This will prevent it from accidentally ‘turning on’ in your luggage if it is bumped around,” Sparks says. Some toys come with travel locks which keep it off unless you press a button for a certain amount of seconds. Of course, non-electronic toys circumvent this issue altogether.
A fair warning before planning a trip with your toys: It’s best to look up the laws of your destination. “There are countries such as Saudi Arabia, the Maldives, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and India where it is illegal to ‘possess’ or arrive into these countries with a sex toy,” says Sparks. “If caught, you could spend time in prison.”
Thankfully, we’ve come a long way in sex tech, and sex toys now come in all shapes and sizes. To ease your travel anxieties (or keep nosy in-laws at bay), we’ve rounded up 23 quiet and discreet sex toys that can make an appearance at TSA or on your nightstand without causing a stir.
